Seniors Circle

Connecting and supporting the senior members of our Sri Lankan community in Queensland through engaging activities and fostering well-being.

About the Brisbane Seniors Group

The Brisbane Seniors Group is a dedicated service delivered by the Sinhala Association of Queensland (SAQ). Our core purpose is to create an enabling environment for seniors and their supporters (including all community members) to participate in meaningful activities that enhance the well-being of the most senior members within our community.

Our annual program is thoughtfully designed to engage the entire community. We focus on incorporating intergenerational interactions to foster understanding and harmony, organizing trips to interesting places, providing valuable health and well-being information and programs, and offering opportunities for volunteering.

Meetings & Activities

Having fun at every meeting is a primary focus, promoting a strong sense of well-being among participants. Singing and enjoying a shared lunch are regular, cherished features of our gatherings.

Our History

The Brisbane Seniors Group was established under the auspices of the Sinhala Association of Queensland in the mid-1990s. As the Sri Lankan community in Queensland grew, the need for dedicated services for seniors became apparent. The founding of this group was the result of the hard work and dedication of a handful of committed community members.

(A more comprehensive history of the group will be made available in a future update.)
